Mannafields Christian school is a mixed day school based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The school was established in 1988, with the senior years added to the school in 1997. The school caters for children from the age of 5 and offers a Christ-centred education. The school focuses on providing a curriculum that is based both on the National Curriculum for Excellence and the Word of God. Children are prepared for the real world on a foundation of Bible and academic skills, and the ethos of the school is based on the Word of God and the personal values of; standards of behaviour, discipline, self-discipline, ethics, manners and practical Christianity
There are currently just 22 children on role, and children are currently only catered for from between the ages of 5 and 14. Mannafields Christian school seeks to achieve excellence through small class sizes and composite classes. It aims to develop each child’s abilities and talents while equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed in adulthood.
The school curriculum has God at the centre, and teaching occurs through an integrated curriculum that covers core subjects in a project basis. All projects are based on a different aspect of God. Language and maths are consolidated through published graded schemes. Children also learn a foreign language and access social studies, science and technology, ICT, the arts and physical education. Individual subjects become more clearly defined as children enter the upper primary years in preparation for their secondary education.
