Ipswich, Suffolk
Founded in 1868, Orwell Park School is a day and boarding school for boys and girls aged between 2 and 13 years. We are located in the village of Nacton, on the edge of Ipswich in Suffolk.
At the heart of Orwell Park’s ethos is a belief in educating the whole child: nurturing not only academic achievement but emotional intelligence, creativity, character, and wellbeing. Our class sizes ensure that every pupil is known, valued, and supported as an individual, allowing teachers to tailor learning, celebrate strengths, and encourage personal growth.
We foster a culture of curiosity, kindness, and resilience, helping children to discover who they are, what they love, and how they can make a positive difference in the world.
At Orwell Park, every child is given the space and confidence to thrive.

Orwell Park is part of the Benenden Family of Schools and takes pride in preparing pupils for entry to a wide range of outstanding senior schools each year. By working closely with families and drawing on a deep understanding of each child’s strengths, character, and aspirations, the school ensures that every pupil is guided towards the environment in which they will not only succeed academically, but truly thrive.
Orwell Park’s long-standing relationships with senior school admissions teams enable the school to offer informed, personalised guidance to every family. From initial discussions and school visits to assessments and final decisions, pupils and parents receive expert support at every stage of the admissions process.
Scholarships are a particular strength at Orwell Park spanning a wide range of areas including academic, art, design & technology, drama, music, and sport.
Orwell Park is part of the Benenden Family of Schools and, as such, enjoys a close and mutually supportive relationship with Benenden, one of the world's leading independent schools. Since our merger in early 2026, Orwell has benefited from investment in our OrWellbeing Hub and a number of other projects. Pupils at both schools have participated together in Sport and The Arts, with many other events planned. Staff share expertise and knowledge ensuring best practice across the curriculum, in pastoral care and in co-curricular activities. With an excellent record of strong transition to all senior schools, including Benenden, Orwell Park prepares every child to thrive both within and beyond school life.
