Founded in 1877 as a girls’ school, St Leonards is now a boarding and day school for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 18 years. It is located within the walls of an ancient priory in the Scottish coastal town of St Andrews. St Andrews is near to Dundee and within reasonable travelling distance of both Edinburgh and Glasgow. The town is famous for both its golf links and its university and St Leonards enjoys a close relationship with the University of St Andrews. For example, St Leonards pupils regularly attend Science masterclasses and visit the spectroscopy labs at the University.

St Leonards has 520 pupils, who are supported by more than 100 permanent teachers as well as temporary staff including sports coaches and visiting music teachers. This level of support ensures that each pupil has the opportunity to make the most of their educational experience at the school, whatever their talents may be.
