Students from all over the world come together on our central London campus to experience an innovative American curriculum with an international outlook. For more than 75 years, American School in London students ages 4-18 have pursued an education built for more than just exam results. At ASL, students enjoy real independence, curiosity, and purpose, while achieving impressive academic outcomes and going on to thrive at leading universities in the UK, US, and beyond.
In the Lower School, K1-Grade 4 students (UK reception through year 5) engage in joyful, hands-on learning that inspires curiosity and critical thinking. Our Reggio Emilia-inspired early childhood program builds a foundation of playful inquiry in which students are thoughtful participants in the creation of their own learning, while in Grades 1-4, an inquiry-based curriculum nurtures exploration and progress. With specialized instruction in Spanish, arts, PE, environmental education, and technology, lower schoolers develop confidence and creativity.

Affiliated Schools
The American School in London (ASL) is a preK-12 (all-through) day school serving students ages 4-18 of all nationalities. While we welcome students joining us at every age and grade level, many of our families join in the early years (during lower school) and remain with us through graduation. Starting early allows children to build strong, lasting connections within our vibrant international community, developing a lifelong love of learning and growing into courageous global citizens as they progress from K1 through the High School.
The American School in London (Middle School)
Students move from the ASL Lower School into the Middle School when they transition from Grade 4 (UK year 5) to Grade 5 (UK year 6). Students spend four years in the Middle School before moving into the High School to start Grade 9 (UK year 10).
The American School in London (High School)
Students move from the ASL Middle School into the High School when they transition from Grade 8 (UK year 9) to Grade 9 (UK year 10). Students spend four years in the High School before their graduation, after which point our alumni go on to attend top colleges and universities in the UK, the US, and worldwide.
