Amanda McShane
Head of Coram House
For the 2026/27 academic year, Ackworth School is proud to freeze our day school fees. In a climate where many families continue to face financial pressures, and where independent school fees have risen sharply across the sector, we have taken a deliberate and values-led decision to prioritise affordability and access.
Underpinned by careful long-term financial planning and a strong financial foundation, this decision reflects our commitment to widening opportunity while continuing to invest in excellent teaching, facilities and the holistic education that defines an Ackworth education.
All fees shown are annual and are inclusive of VAT.
At Coram House, children are known, supported and encouraged to make the most of every opportunity. Smaller classes and Quaker values create a warm, caring community, while specialist teaching, weekly swimming and Forest School add breadth to every week. Wraparound care gives families greater flexibility, and as part of Ackworth School, children can grow with us from Nursery to Sixth Form, making each transition feel more familiar.

Smaller Classes, Strong Values, Individual Attention Our smaller class sizes mean every child is known as an individual - their strengths, interests, personality and where they may need extra support or challenge. Underpinned by our Quaker ethos and values, kindness, respect, equality and consideration for others are part of everyday school life. Children receive the individual attention they need to make progress academically, while developing the confidence, character and values that will stay with them well beyond the classroom.

Specialist Teaching from an Early Age Children benefit from specialist teaching in areas including sport, music and languages, with access to the expertise and facilities of the wider Ackworth School. This gives children more opportunities, from an early age, to experience different subjects, discover new interests and develop their individual talents. For parents, it means their child receives a breadth of education that can be difficult to provide within a standalone primary school.

Weekly Swimming Lessons from Age Four With our own indoor swimming pool, children have weekly swimming lessons from the age of four, giving them the consistency and time to become confident and capable in the water. Swimming is an essential life skill, and regular lessons allow children to make meaningful progress from an early age - while also being one less activity for busy families to fit into evenings and weekends.

Timetabled Forest School Forest School is part of the timetable, not an occasional activity. Children regularly use our woodland and extensive grounds to explore, create, problem-solve and work together. Time outdoors gives children a different way to learn, helping them develop independence, resilience and confidence while giving them the freedom to explore, get muddy, take appropriate risks and enjoy being children.

Wraparound Care Included Until 6pm With wraparound care available from 7:45am to 6pm at no additional charge, Coram House offers valuable flexibility for busy families. Children can enjoy a varied programme of clubs and activities while remaining within the familiar school environment. It means more opportunities for children and less pressure on parents to arrange additional childcare or spend evenings travelling between different activities.

A School They Can Grow Up In - Nursery to Sixth Form Children can begin their Ackworth journey in Nursery and continue through Coram House, Senior School and Sixth Form, all within the same school community. From their earliest years, they become familiar with the campus, staff, facilities and routines, helping transitions feel like a natural next step rather than starting again. This continuity can give children greater confidence and security, while giving parents the reassurance of a school that can support and challenge their child from their first days in Nursery right through to age 18.

Coram House is the Junior School at Ackworth School, giving children the warmth and care of a close-knit junior environment while being part of a wider school community from the very beginning. Children can join us in Nursery from 2½ and continue through Coram House to Senior School and Sixth Form. Even our youngest children use facilities across the Senior School site, while Coram House pupils benefit from specialist spaces and teaching from Senior School staff. This familiarity helps make each move feel like a natural next step. Children already know the surroundings, routines and many of the people, helping them approach Senior School with confidence. For parents, it offers the reassurance of a joined-up education where their child can feel known and supported from 2½ to 18.
