At Farlington, our vision is to inspire our students to embrace learning in all its forms. We are a forward-thinking school where academic success and co-curricular achievement are valued equally. Every pupil is nurtured here, and encouraged to fulfil his or her potential whilst engaging with opportunity. No subject is considered off limits; no position of responsibility unattainable. We are proudly and intentionally a smaller school, where each student is valued and where opportunities abound. Pastoral care is paramount, with the happiness and wellbeing of every student at the core of daily life. Farlington’s ‘can-do’ philosophy instils confidence in our students, enabling them to thrive as they go out into the world and shape their own future. Our aim is to instil a long-lasting love of learning; we stretch the most able and support the least confident. Our most recent Independent Schools Inspectorate report described Farlington School as providing ‘an excellent curriculum with outstanding teaching’. Our staff pride themselves on an ability to harness your child’s academic talents and their priority is to provide an education which challenges and inspires.
Farlington is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, providing exceptional, all-round education for children aged 4 to 18, located on the West Sussex/Surrey border. Founded in 1896, Farlington School is nestled in 33 acres of beautiful Sussex parkland near Horsham in West Sussex, UK. Just 25 minutes' drive from Gatwick Airport and within easy reach of Central London and the South Coast, our location is both idyllic and convenient. Formerly an all-girls' school, Farlington began welcoming boys in 2018 and will be fully co-educational by September 2021. We are very proud to be the only independent school for boys and girls aged 4 to 18 in the Horsham area.
We appreciate that choosing the right school for your child is a hugely important decision, whether you are looking for a day or boarding place, in Prep, Senior or Sixth Form. The best way for you to find out whether Farlington School is the right choice - for your child, and also for you as a family - is to visit us. We are now delighted to be able to offer on-site tours again and just ask that visitors take a lateral flow Covid test here at Farlington beforehand. Our door is always open - whether you choose to visit Farlington on an Open Day (once restrictions are lifted), or on an individual visit. Our main Open Days are normally held at weekends in October and March, but you may also find it useful to visit us on a weekday, to truly see us in action. We look forward to helping you and your child begin your Farlington adventure!

We are very keen to meet all students before they apply for a place at Farlington. We welcome you and your child to come for a tour of the school and to meet the Head. We accept a very broad intake of students and are looking for children who will make the most of every opportunity to succeed, whatever their starting point. Prep School Admissions - Pre-Prep (Reception, Preps 1 & 2) - An informal assessment and report from your child's current nursery or school is required. - Prep (Preps 3, 4, 5 & 6) - Pupils will complete written assessments in Mathematics and English. They will also have an interview with the Assistant Head (Prep). - Prep Assessment Days are held in early January. Senior School Admissions Most students enter the Senior School in Year 7 or Year 9, although a few join at the start of Year 8; Year 10 for GCSE qualifications; or the Sixth Form. September entry is preferable but we are happy to consider students at any time of the year where circumstances require this, provided there is space in the relevant year group. Entrance examinations are taken in the January before entry to Years 7 to 10. If your son/daughter is at school overseas they will sit the papers in their own school, or if they have registered for a place through an agency, they may sit the papers in the agency's office. Students who are currently overseas will also be required to have an interview via video link, usually through Skype. Those who cannot complete entrance examinations in January will be offered the chance to sit entrance papers at other times throughout the year. Although our excellent GCSE and A-Level results might suggest we accept only students who are already achieving very high standards, we take a very broad intake of pupils. We are looking for students who will do well, whatever their education before joining us, and entry is often not as difficult as some people fear. Sixth Form Admissions A Sixth Form Preview Evening is held in the September prior to entry for current Year 11 students, followed by a Sixth Form Experience Day when students can get a taste of life as a Farlington Sixth Form.

Farlington's Scholarships and Awards Provision recognises pupils with outstanding talents and skills in a variety of fields, and helps to develop those talents during their time at the school. In addition to Academic Scholarships, applications for Art, Drama, Music and Sport are also welcomed. Full details of the scholarships available (from Year 7 to Sixth Form) can be found below. Farlington may also offer financial assistance to Senior School pupils who are unable to pay full fees. As a school, we are committed to broadening access by offering means-tested bursaries to beneficiaries who would otherwise not be able to attend Farlington. All bursary awards are subject to annual testing of parental means and may be varied as parental circumstances change. Awards are assessed on the basis of a completed Confidential Statement of Financial Circumstances, which is available from the Finance Office.
